DOH extends polio vaccination drive in Mindanao

Far-flung villages in Mindanao that have yet to be reached by the Mindanao-wide polio vaccination campaign prompted the Department of Health (DOH) to extend round 2 of the anti-polio drive to another week.

The round 2 of polio vaccination in Mindanao will be extended for another week to mop up selected areas that have poor coverage),” Cabotaje said.

According to Cabotaje, it was important that they cover areas in Mindanao due to the number of cases coming from the region. Using rapid coverage assessment, the department is checking on the areas and children that are yet to receive polio vaccination.

WHO at UNICEF (Round three in the National Capital Region, including round 1 in Manila and rounds 2 and 3 in entire NCR, have concluded but obtaining of and evaluation on sewage samples continue together with experts from WHO and UNICEF),” the official said.
