The Department of Health (DOH) said on Tuesday that there still more than 1,600 testing backlogs in all of its accredited testing laboratories for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) nationwide.

“So we have a total of about 1,691 backlogs as of 6 p.m. of yesterday,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire told reporters.

Vergeire noted that Roque was referring to the “maximum capacity.” To note, there are now a total of 49 COVID-19 laboratories in the country.
