Internist-cardiologist Willie Ong on Wednesday gave Filipinos a glimpse of how he will handle the ongoing pandemic if he is elected vice president next year. His strategy includes limiting the release of COVID-19 case data.

Presidential aspirant Isko Moreno said he picked Ong to be his running mate because of his medical background.

Ong also said he will make sure that an intent to order should already be in place for the best second generation COVID-19 vaccines even if they are still in the development stage. Other medicines, equipment, and vitamins to help patients will also be made available. His final idea is to lessen the anxiety brought about by grim COVID-19 data by not releasing new cases and mortalities daily.

[Translation: I don't want you to check the data every day and say cases are going up or down. Maybe we'll release it every three days. I will not stress you out.]"Panlaban sa COVID, hihinga lang nang malalim lagi. Turo ito ng pulmonologist, hinga nang malalim, expand, tigil, tapos exhale. Papalakasin ang baga. Tamaan man ng COVID, may laban," he said.

Sayang boss senator kn sana!!

dapat kay doc Ong naka assign sa Mental hospital..ok lang siguro i delayed nya release ng mga nasisiraan ng ulo para hindi na ma istress..😂😂😂

This is the enemy of transparency.

ganun b ha, eh paano kung dumagsa cgurado sasambulat sa pagmumukha mo ungas.

Mas BAGAY syo doc Ong sa DOH at Philhealth..

It's bad already. Limiting the data will make the people unaware of the situation of covid in our country. SMH

he's like saying he will only be counting deaths--not preventing it--to the fantasy of the chinis' community

Strike 1 agad! Not yet elected but his first instinct is to delay the release of data that is needed to inform the country! Come on!

Susko di na nga reliable ang data natin ngayon ito naman ayaw ipakita… ang galing… you can never improve what you do not measure!!!

How does Ong intend to increase the salaries of HCWs and build more hospitals? It is always easy to say these things as if they are just now being said. Anyone can say this. But it is the how that people want to know.

Ang tahimik mo ngaun pandemic walang reklamo ni hindi k nga nakiisa s mga HCW, pero noong Dengavaxia ang ingay mo. Opurtunista k nga trying hard maging politician, Duque ver.2 k rn in the end

Your intentions are good, DocWillieOng, but withholding or delaying data is not really a good approach. We already have that in a way right now, with some labs not always able to report data on time.

Nah. Paano ang transparency at right to information?
