With this explanation, DILG Undersecretary and spokesman Jonathan Malaya explained that business establishments may operate in other areas not covered by this regulation.
He added the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology noted the eight barangays are susceptible to Base Surge and Volcanic Tsunami “which is why they were included in the Mandatory Evacuation Order issued by the Department as early as Monday’’. Malaya said the establishments in barangays located in the higher portion of the ridge may be allowed to reopen subject to the sound judgment of the Local Government of Tagaytay.
Malaya also advised the Tagaytay City government to review the “PHIVOLCS Hazard Maps so that they are properly guided in deciding which areas in these eight barangays are safe for businesses to reopen’’.Malaya said that they rely on PHIVOLCS on issues like this.
For stubborn people under mandatory lockdown... just let them through to their own homes and livelihood BUT let them sign a waiver form absolving anyone else and govt and philvocs of any liability and damages should taal erupt.
Cracks have been seen in Tagaytay already. It's better for them to evacuate asap.
