The Department of Agriculture (DA) distributed seedlings to informal settlers who were relocated at Paradise Heights at Barangay 128 in Smokey Mountain, Tondo, Manila.

GROW YOUR OWN FOOD—The Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the Manila City government, launches the Nutrition Box project, wherein informal settlers who were relocated to Paradise Heights at Barangay 128 in Smokey Mountain, Tondo, Manila were given seedlings that can be planted and be their constant source of food.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar said these seedlings can be planted and can be a constant source of food for the residents. “We are now doing this nationwide, to ensure household food security, na pwede naman palang magtanim, anihin, lalo na yung mga [gulay] ,” Dar said Wednesday. This is in line with the Nutrition Box project, in partnership with the Manila City government, wherein relocated families in the said area will be given a source of food.

Under the resettlement and governance assistance fund of the Department of the Interior and Local Government , the city government supports members of the relocated families in looking for jobs.
