MANILA - Consumer confidence in the country improved in the second quarter of the year as the overall confidence index rose to -30.9 percent from -34.7 percent in the previous quarter, showed the Consumer Expectation Survey released by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Friday.
The CI for the next 12 months rose to 19.8 percent from the 17.9 percent in Q1 the survey, the BSP said. Buying sentiments for big-ticket items show record-low buying intentions for the next 12 months, the BSP said. Meanwhile, the percentage of households with savings accounts in banks declined in Q2 to 19.4 percent from 20.1 percent in Q1, the BSP said.
