Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, in a press conference on Thursday, January 14, said that she planned to spend the province’s budget instead on reviving the economy, among others. Local government units around the country, including the province capital Cebu City, has allocated millions from their budget for the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccines.

“The national government has already appropriated so much and targeted 70 percent of the population. We could step in if the remaining 30 percent still needs to be vaccinated,” she said.
