Twelve persons deprived of liberty were released from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte last Oct. 9, while 13 inmates were freed from the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City last Oct. 10, the Bureau of Corrections said.

In a statement issued on Friday, Oct. 15, BuCor said one of those released from DPPF had been acquitted of the criminal charges filed against him while the 11 others had finished their jail terms with credits under the law on good conduct time allowance .“These releases are results of collaborative efforts of the Bureau of Corrections and the Davao Prison and Penal Farm in releasing qualified PDLs in line with the full implementation of the GCTA Law,” it said.

It said that aside from gratuity and transportation allowance, those freed from CIW were issued certificates of recommendations to give them chances for employment. BuCor’s statement did not state the reason for the release of the 13 inmates from CIW.
