"historic climate promises" if the government doesn't urgently put policies in place to reach its goal of decarbonizing the economy, according to its official climate watchdog.
The report comes just months before Britain hosts the 26th UN Climate Change Conference , at which countries are expected to come up with commitments that will limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Alok Sharma, president of COP26 and a member of Johnson's cabinet, told CNN in April that he wanted"countries to set out their plans in detail."
The committee pointed to Johnson's 10-point plan for a"green industrial revolution" as another example of an ambitious declaration that"has yet to be backed with firm policies."
And this is with the world's economy on shut down... imagine if all economies worldwide were operating at full throttle. Bit again we are talking about a governmental 'promise' which by definition is not expected to be kept.
