This was disclosed by BOC-Zamboanga District Collector Segundo Barte Jr. who said that a complaint has been filed against Alex Chua in Dipolog City for violation of Executive Order No. 245, entitled “Amended Rules & Regulations Governing the Exportation and Importation of Tobacco and Tobacco Products”
The charges were based on a raid conducted by a composite team at a warehouse in Dinas, Zamboanga del Norte, believed to be owned by Chua late last month, where six cigarette-replicating machines worth of P 600 million were recovered. In all, Barte said more than P1.138 billion in cigarette-making machines, bogus stamps and fake cigarettes were seized in the raids.
According to Barte, BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero ordered him to immediately file the appropriate charges against Chua.
