The Diocese of Boac in Marinduque kept the old tradition of marking the parishioners’ foreheads with blessed ashes, Ash Wednesday, the first day of the 40-day Lenten season.

Boac Bishop Marcelino Antonio Maralit, Jr. said that aside from being very traditional, there is no threat of the corona virus disease in the island.

“The Department of Health in the province also did not issue any advisory on the virus that calls for precautionary measures,” the bishop added. Maralit said that parishes around the country are faced with different situations and may observe different precautionary measures.
