Military Ordinary Bishop Oscar Jaime Florencio is in favor of having mandatory military service for the youth.

The prelate believes this will help instill more discipline to the young people. He added: It’s a good thing also to bring about while they are young.

Florencio said that it should not only be an academic requirement, but a necessity for a “strong and solid good character.” He also stressed that the rights of those who would undergo military service should be respected and their safety ensured. Presidential daughter and vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte earlier proposed to make military service mandatory for all Filipinos upon reaching the age of 18.
