Senators seeking higher office will have no chance to remain in their position even if they lose an election once a bill declaring their automatic resignation is signed into law, a veteran lawmaker said on Monday., Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez said his House Bill 10381 seeks to reinstate a rule that elective officials will be deemed resigned once they file their certificate of candidacy, but only if the position they are running for is different from the one they are holding.
The Fair Election Act of 2001 has repealed Section 67 of the Omnibus Election Code that has declared an incumbent official as resigned upon filing his candidacy for another position. "Once they file for president and vice president, senators resigned from their position, so they should know this is not something to trifle about," the Cagayan de Oro lawmaker said.
Senators thinks they are the Kings/Queens and above the law. Nobody could control them 😀😆😃
Why is it that Senators are allowed to run for President & Vice President WITHOUT resigning as Senators after lossing in the presidential election they just return to serve remaining term as Senators they make their own laws😀😄
