The Department of Labor and Employment has set the record straight on the issue of requiring COVID-19 vaccination among workers.

When asked if the resolution by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the implementation of Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila can be a basis to not pay and even terminate unvaccinated workers, the DOLE chief said, “[n]o that is not correct.” He explained: “There is no mandatory vaccination of workers except in the case of workers in the restaurant industry, where workers in the restaurant should be vaccinated in order to allow the restaurant to operate in the case of al fresco with the capacity of 50% or more, provided that workers are vaccinated. That’s the requirement.”
