“Bato” dela Rosa said on Thursday he supports President Duterte’s threat to put an end to the Visiting Forces Agreement between the United States and the Philippines, saying it is not about him but about ending lopsided bilateral relations.Dela Rosa said that even after learning this was the condition the President demanded in exchange for the US embassy to “correct” its “mistake” and grant him another US visa, he believes the issue is beyond it.
“He is a leader who doesn’t want his people treated unfairly,” Dela Rosa said. “I don’t deserve this bargain but it is not all about me. Dela Rosa earlier confirmed that his US visa has been canceled following the approval of a US legislation that bars the entry of Filipino government officials who have a hand in the arrest and detention of Sen. Leila de Lima, a vocal critic of the administration’s brutal war on drugs.
