Berths in the national team that will be competing in next year’s Children of Asia Games in Russia are at stake for athletes in the 2019 Batang Pinoy National Championships which fires off on Sunday in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Around 5,000 athletes and officials will be competing in 31 sports in the annual multisport local tournament for student-athletes, who earned spots in the three qualifying legs held in Ilagan City, Isabela; Iloilo City, Iloilo and Tagum, Davao Del Norte.
Sports on tap are: archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, boxing, chess, dancesport, futsal, karatedo, tennis, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, beach volleyball, cycling, gymnastics, judo, billiards, muay, rugby football, triathlon, soft tennis, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.
