Bank of China Limited, a major Chinese state-owned financial institution, has donated 500,000 disposable medical masks to the Department of Health (DOH).

Through its Manila branch, Bank of China delivered the donations to the DOH headquarters on Saturday , amid the uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases.

“We all have our roles to play in this challenging situation. As the most internationalized bank in China, Bank of China places a great deal of importance on being a family. And as members of one big family, we need to remember that it is also our responsibility to help keep each other healthy and safe,” the bank official said in a statement released by the Chinese Embassy in Manila.

The boxes containing the masks bore the old Filipino saying, “Matibay ang walis, palibhasa’y magkabigkis ,” a message that there is strength in unity.
