The Diocese of Baguio is not in favor of opening the doors of the “City of Pines” to tourists coming from the entire Luzon, citing the recent increase in the number of coronavirus disease cases in the area.
“It would be better not yet to open Baguio City for the whole Luzon. Baguio City is ranked 2nd high risk area given the cases it is encountering daily,” said Baguio Social Action Director Father Manuel Flores in an interview over Church-run Radyo Veritas. Flores suggested that it would be best to welcome tourists from neighboring provinces for the time being.
“I would go for the opening of the city to Region 1 and Cordillera areas so as to help out in the economy,” the prelate said. The OCTA Research Team of the University of the Philippines recently reported that Baguio City placed second among “high-risk areas” for COVID-19 due to the increased number of cases reported daily.
The OCTA group said that the city logged an average of 39 cases per day and has 69 percent hospital occupancy rate.
Kung kelan nmn kasi pa open na tsaka nmn tumaas ang positive cases natin, laban lang kailyans! Stay safe!
Pero ok i-open ang simbahan? Magaling! 🤔
