The Department of Transportation announced on Sunday that 93 new air conditioner units have been installed in the Metro Rail Transit-Line 3 trains.
“[Damang-dama] na ang lamig sa loob ng tren ng MRT-3 dahil naikabit na ang 93 bagong air-conditioning units sa mga bagon nito!” the DOTr said in a Facebook post. The DOTr said these are in addition to the 33 new air conditioners that were already installed last August and the 60 air conditioners installed in 2018.
There were a total of 120 brand new air conditioner units costing P167 million were purchased by Sumitomo-MHI-TESP under the MRT3 comprehensive rehabilitation program. Last May, Sumitomo-MHI-TESP started handling all rehabilitation and maintenance works for MRT-3 to restore the railway system back to its original design condition.
