Seven lying-in clinics and health centers in the National Capital Region are expected to receive RxBox telehealth devices from the Department of Science and Technology .DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said the DOST-NCR’s deployment of the RxBoxes in hospitals, clinics, and health centers in Metro Manila was part of the RxBox 1000 Program of the University of the Philippines Manila and DOST-Calabarzon.

“To date, 28 units of DOST-funded RxBox Telehealth Devices were already turned over to Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila City, while one unit was provided to Marulas Lying-In Clinic in Valenzuela City,” he said on the DOSTv Facebook page on Friday. “Also lined-up to receive the RxBox are Las Piñas City Lying-In Clinic, Tanza Lying-In Clinic, Tumana Lying-In Clinic, Catmon Super Health Center, Putatan Health Center, Central Bicutan Lying-In Clinic, and Smokey Mt. Lying-In Clinic,” he added.

De la Peña said the recipients of the RxBoxes will undergo a two-day training on the use of the RxBox technology. The distribution of the RxBoxes aims to bolster public access to quality social and public health service facilities amid the ongoing coronavirus disease pandemic.The RxBox is a multi-use telemedicine device that can monitor a patient’s vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and oxygen saturation and act as an electrocardiogram and tocometer sensor.
