Lyceum bounces back to edge Letran in four sets


Lyceum recovered from a tight third-set loss and edged Letran, 25-14, 25-22, 28-30, 25-12, Saturday in NCAA women’s volleyball at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The Lady Pirates squandered four match point advantages in the third set, but returned with a vengeance in the fourth to clinch their third victory in five outings.

Lyceum launched a 12-0 run to set the tone in the fourth and protected its comfortable lead for good.

Johna Dolorito and Zonxi Dahab skippered Lyceum’s run and finished with 18 points apiece including a combined 31 kills.

Janeth Tulang and Jewel Maglimat also stepped up and chipped in 11 points apiece.

Lyceum exploded on the attack lane and blasted 53 kills compared to Letran’s 31, while also waxing hot at the service line with 10 aces.

It made up for the 36 points they gave up on unforced errors.

Julienne Castro and Shereena Urmeneta scored 12 and 10 points for Letran, which fell to a 1-4 win-loss record.
