25 private schools in Region 1 forced to close this school year

According to a local report, 16 private schools closed in Pangasinan, six in La Union, two in Ilocos Norte and one in Ilocos Sur.

DepEd Region 1 Public Affairs Unit Head and Spokesperson Cesar Bucsit reported that the temporary closure of private schools was mainly due to the pandemic. He said decreased enrollment, problems with the implementation of various learning modalities, and restrictions imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 .

He also noted that many students transferred to public schools due to lack of income of their parents, many of whom lost their jobs because of the downtrend in the economy.

Cayetano urges DepEd to provide tutoring jobs to displaced private school teachers - Manila BulletinSpeaker Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday encouraged the Department of Education (DepEd) to explore the possibility of partnering with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to tap displaced private school teachers as online tutors. Cayetano aired this proposal as DepEd started finalizing the guidelines for the deployment of para-teachers […] Political statement as usual. No content, just lots of air, to gain media mileage. If this guy cannot keep his word in the agreement among thieves at the congress, his word has no value anytime he opens his mouth. There tutor work for sure Many of rich friends refuse to send kids outside to keep safe Homeschool or online learning only I suspect this reason low private school enrolment RT : Cayetano urges DepEd to provide tutoring jobs to displaced private school teachers
