Metro Manila's air temperature further dipped to 19.0 degrees Celsius (°C) on Tuesday, Jan. 18, making it the coldest day so far since the northeast monsoon or "amihan" season started in October 2021.

Based on the data of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the 19.0°C air temperature was particularly recorded at the Science Garden monitoring station in Quezon City at around 6 a.m.

It surpassed the 19.5°C air temperature on Monday, Jan. 17.

PAGASA data showed that the top 10 stations that recorded the lowest air temperatures on Tuesday morning were:

Baguio City (12.0℃)

Casiguran, Aurora (17.6°C)

Tanay, Rizal (17.8℃)

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (17.8℃)

Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (18.7℃)

Abucay, Bataan (19.0°C)

Science Garden, Quezon City (19.0°C)

Subic, Zambales (19.2°C)

Malaybalay, Bukidnon (19.3°C)

Sinait, Ilocos Sur (19.4℃)

In the next 24 hours, the shear line and northeast monsoon will still be the dominant weather systems in the country.

PAGASA said that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas due to the shear line.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may also prevail over the rest of Mindanao.

PAGASA advised those in areas affected by the shear line to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides, especially during the occurrence of moderate to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience cold weather due to the amihan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light monsoon rains may persist in these areas, PAGASA said.

The chilly weather is expected to last until February as the amihan continues to prevail over the country.
