TWO Abu Sayyaf bandits have surrendered Wednesday amid the conduct of focused military operation against them in the island province of Sulu, the military said Saturday, September 21.

Major General Corleto Vinluan, Joint Task Force Sulu commander, identified as the Abu Sayyaf surrenderers as Mukarim Nasilin, 31, and Sahi Hasim, 28, who are from Maimbung and Talipao towns, respectively. Vinluan said the two, who are followers of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Sibih Pisih, surrendered around 9 a.m. Wednesday to the headquarters of the Army’s 41st Infantry Battalion at Sitio Bato Habah in the village of Matatal, Maimbung, Sulu.

He said they turned over two US-made Garand rifles to Lieutenant Colonel Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, commander of the Army’s 41st Infantry Battalion. The military is conducting relentless offensive against the bandits in Sulu as President Rodrigo Duterte has given them until December, this year, to finish the Abu Sayyaf.
