“The diocese has witnessed the quick and comprehensive response made by the LGUs of Pasig, Pateros, and Taguig in the face of the health crisis, particularly in ensuring the safety of their constituents,” Vergara said over Radio Veritas.

The bishop said, the Church works hand in hand with the government in the implementation of safety health protocols to help curb the spread of the virus.

“Proper coordination and cooperation between the diocese and officials of the LGUs are important in addressing the effects of the pandemic,” Vergara said.

“We will heighten our vigilance as we observe the season of Lent. We call on the faithful to follow the safety measures being implemented in their parishes,” he added.

The government has allowed churches in general community quarantine (GCQ) areas to fill in 50 percent of its capacity.

The Diocese of Pasig has 30 parishes under its jurisdiction that cater to the spiritual needs of more than a million Catholics in the cities of Pasig, Pateros, and Taguig.
