Zamfara killings: Take drastic actions against bloodletting, NLC urges FG

The Nigeria Labour Congress has asked the Federal Government to take drastic actions against terrorists involved in the massacre of Nigerians in Zamfara and other states in the North-West.

The Congress cautioned the political leaders not to get used to issuing condolence messages after attacks.Zamfara State.has condemned the recent attacks on residents in Zamfara.instituting court case against former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, over leadership of the party.

The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, said this in a statement on Monday titled, ‘Nigeria Labour Congress condemns the recent massacre in Zamfara.’ It said, “It is the expectation of the Congress that our political leaders should not get used to ‘condemning and condoling’ after the perpetration of such satanic attacks.It also suggested the extension of social security cover to vulnerable Nigerians, promotion of the rule of law and institutionalisation of good governance.“The Federal Government must take very drastic steps to bring a firm closure to the current ogre of bloodletting, destruction of property and displacement of Nigerians.Ibrahim Dosara, Zamfara commissioner for information, also reportedly bandits’ informants for the attacks.“We commend the gallantry and sacrifice of our soldiers and other armed services personnel in the current war against terrorists.According to him, there are no words to describe the iniquitous visitation of such barbarism on a defenceless civilian population.We ask that our military step up on the onslaught against criminal elements who have vowed to make life a living hell for innocent Nigerians.“The State Working Committee noted that the action of Bode Obanla is a great embarrassment to the party and necessary actions will be taken in due course.

” The union submitted that the deployment of proactive intelligence, active surveillance and hi-tech weaponry would be useful in combating and conquering the barbarism being exhibited by the terrorists.Conservative estimates put the number of displaced persons, mostly the poor, from the affected communities at about 10,000,” he said.According to a statement issued on Monday by Stephane Dujarric, the secretary-general’s spokeman, Guterres condoled with families affected and asked the federal government to fish out those responsible.Read Also.
