Why Army trains, retrains officers, soldiers, by GOC

is pivotal to achieving the required regimentation, professional responsiveness and combat efficiency needed to tackle the various security challenges facing the Army and Nigeria.

The competitions, which runs from July 15 to 19, consist of weapon handling, drills, physical fitness, obstacle crossing, map reading and tug of war, among others. He said: “The lessons to be learnt from the competitions, within the period, are designed to provide participants with the requisite knowledge to effectively discharge their tasks under the division in particular and the Nigerian Army.“The initiative is in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to have a professionally responsive Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.

Sarham also noted that the competitions would have taken place in the second quarter of this year but postponed due to the general elections.
