We move.” Recently, Abe resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress following the events that trailed the governorship primary in Rivers. the former senator declared his interest to contest the 2023 Rivers governorship election on the platform of the APC., declared that he would not accept the outcome, saying the process that produced the delegates was not credible.

Abe had been at loggerheads with Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation. The conflict between the duo resulted in the disqualification of the party from contesting the 2019 governorship election in Rivers.
