Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, briefs State House correspondents in Abuja on January 17, 2022.Governor Matawalle gave an assurance that in spite of the efforts of these individuals, residents would begin to witness significant improvement in the security situation.

The governor equally blamed those he described as political bandits as responsible for fake reports on the number of affected persons in the recent attacks on some communities. Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle briefs President Muhammadu Buhari on the security in his state.“I have already cleared the air about the figures because I have seen some reporting that 200 people, 300 people, 500 people were killed,” he said. “I went to the community myself and with the [heads of] security agencies.

In May 2021, Gov Ayade said that he joined APC to support Buhari to “reduce the tension in the country.” In July 2021, Gov Matawalle said he defected to the APC so that “Zamfara would benefit more from the Fed Govt. Both govs lied cos both the country & their states are worse off
