A US government exchange alumnae-led organisation, Street to School Initiative, in collaboration with the US Consulate General, has launched a teacher capacity-building workshop, tagged, ’Re-imagining EducationX 2021: The Teacher on the Move.”

It said 300 high school teachers from Lagos, Rivers and Enugu states would benefit from the programme as they would acquire skills in effective virtual classroom teaching methods, best practices in curriculum development, lesson planning, and innovative 21st-century student-centered teaching methods.

The workshop, according to the consulate, was sponsored by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund with support from the Public Affairs Section of the US Consulate General in Lagos. The US Consulate Public Affairs Officer, Stephen Ibelli, who declared the workshop open, reiterated the US Mission’s commitment to supporting a more educated population by increasing and strengthening the capacity of Nigerian teachers through teacher training workshops and exchange programmes.
