The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Lilian Salami, on Thursday said her aim was to develop more infrastructure, provide conducive learning environment

Speaking at a media parley on her second year in the saddle, the VC stated that a benefitting building that houses the offices of professors has been built to make them work in a more conducive environment, while most of the former building has been given a face-lift.

She also said that the lecture theatres have also been made more conducive to enable students learn better with more courses to be introduced in the near future. “The target is to continue to develop infrastructures, build new building and give the old ones a face-lift so that student and lecturers can operate in a conducive environment.

“We are also on the verge of introducing courses like cyber security, computer and commerce, computer and governance and business data management. We are trying to key into the Blue Economy and ensure we produce graduates that can excel in these area.” She expressed joy that the gully ravaging the school would enjoy funding from the ecological funds. She explained that in order to make up for the shortages of teaching staff in the University, 300 non teaching staff were trained and converted into teaching staff to augument the shortfall because the federal government has not lifted the embargo on employment.
