The consumer price index, which measures the rate of increase in the price of goods and services, increased to 15.63 percent in December 2021 —
According to the report, increases were recorded in all Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose divisions that yielded the headline index. “In December 2021, all items inflation on year on year basis was highest in Ebonyi , Kogi and Bauchi , while Kwara and%) Cross River recorded the slowest rise in headline Year on Year inflation,” the report reads.
According to the report, food inflation also increased to 17.37 percent in December from 17.21 percent in November.NBS said the rise in the food sub-index was caused by increases in the price of bread and cereals, food product, meat, fish, potatoes, yam and other tubers, soft drinks and fruits.
This was caused largely by the usual increase in the price of consumer goods every December. This is my personal opinion though.
