Reacting in a statement issued in Enugu, COSEYL condemned “the gruesome murder of the two Igbo legitimate businessmen who did nothing wrong but were killed on premise that they are informants to the military.’’It read in part, “What business do men who travelled to Kano to look for their daily bread have with being informants of the military?
“The tale by moonlight stuff about the assassination of Elechukwu and Emmanuel does not add up at all. We suspect foul play in the death of these two young men in their prime. “It is on record that Mr Peter Obi was in Kano State over the weekend to make some consultation about his presidential ambition, where he met with the Emir of Kano to solicit his support, and two Igbo traders were killed by 8.50 pm on the same Saturday Obi was in the state after being accused of being military spies.”
