L-R: South African Political Counsellor, Ms Pat Sebidi; Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola; Special Adviser to South African President, Dr Khulu Mbatha; South African Special Envoy, Mr Jeff Rade

be; President Muhammadu Buhari; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama; Chief of Staff, Mr Abba Kyari; acting High Commissioner of South Africa to Nigeria, Mr Bobby Moroe; and Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr Kabiru Bala, during the visit of the South African Special Envoy to the President in Abuja...on Monday.

“The incidents do not represent what we stand for as a constitutional democracy in South Africa and the President has apologised for these incidents. He noted that leaders on the African continent must use the crisis as an opportunity to “make sure that the scourge of unemployment, poverty and inequality in Africa is attended to by our leaders.”

“We should wait until October 3 to see how that unfolds. But, I can indicate that as a lawyer, the South African laws require that all registered companies must have public insurance in terms of things of this nature.”Speaking on why it took South Africa long time to address xenophobia, he said, “These incidents have been happening from time to time. As you know, we are still emerging from the system of apartheid, where according to statistics, the last unemployment rate was around 29 per cent.

The Presidency, in a statement, said Buhari at the meeting, recalled Nigeria’s sacrifices in securing democratic rule in South Africa. Obasanjo, in a letter to the President of the Inkatha Freedom Party, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, which was made available to newsmen by his Special Assistant Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, explained that repatriation was palliative and could not erase the pain in the heart of the returnees.“Neither is revenge a desirable solution.

He added, “I dare say, for any African country to encourage or allow or not seriously sanction xenophobia against Africans in their country, it is a great disservice not only to the country where xenophobia takes place and the countries of the victims concerned, but also a great disservice to the whole of Africa and black race.”

Ogunjobi, who is the current Pro-Chancellor of Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa, Edo State, stated this in Abuja on Monday during an interview with our correspondents shortly after he received the prestigious award of the Fellow of the Nigerian Economic Society.

Bullshit what has been done by buhari and and SA government ,using peoples life in politics is a sin

That is their problem..We will surly pay them back..

To help with them and their apologies

How many of the dead has risen?!!

Not enough

Apology is not enough. Full compensations for lost properties and investments as well as d prosecution of the perpetrators of that evil plus a solid guarantee by the SA government that such will never happen again r some of d prerequisites necessary for considering 4giving SA.

Are we not tired of taking photographs on such an issue as a visit made to render an apology? Posing for pictures at the end of this crucial meeting speaks volumes on our person and sincerity

Buhari please send an envoy too. Since the South African president is too busy to appear on a matter as delicate as this.

Meaning

Sincerely, if I were PO, I would have long resign from this Cabinet for a very long time. What's the business of Abba Kyari in this meeting?

Hahaha....cunning people

Not good enough

We don't want any apology let them pay for the damages they course

Of only Nigeria was still Nigeria. He will be saying that sorry as a spirit to those they killed already

This is not good at all...

They will pay for it Nigerians are the proud of black nations!

Am I supposed to be Happy with just an Apology?

What will happen to properties distroyed in the attack, lets hear the recovery process that will be taken place.simple

They should have known that prevention is better and cheaper than cure

Unacceptable

Just like that

And MTNNG have not given free data to it's customers 😏😏😏

This is good to hear may the soul of dead rest in perfect peace (Amin)

After Our brother have been brought back by Air piece ... bulshit

How was Nigerian envoy sent to Cyril Ramaphosa treated? Won’t Nigerian Victims from South Africans Xenophobia attack be forced to see this President Buhari’s outing with this South African envoy as a disconnection from our collective humiliation, looting and killings?

Not enough. Steps must be expedite to compensate Nigerians who lost their businesses there. The culprits must be made to face the wrath of the law.

Rubbish apology. When lives n property have been lost. What's the remedy to the families CyrilRamaphosa PresidencyZA. You shall reap what you have sown.

Thunder will fire them all If they think apology is the key to agreement Then they should bring back all our brothers and sisters they tormented and killed NONSENSE

You let this idiot plp meet the president.😡

So they mean they have stop killing Nigerians at South Africa. That we will not hear off killings any more, what if it happened again then what will be done to them.

We've heard but we NGRPresident still needs to act cos we've lost lives, business while their government was watching

This is what I don't understand.. Will the apology resurrect the dead?

Not enough

Not enough

Apologise? Do same to Americans and tell POTUS you have “apologised “. Your great great grandchildren will live to tell the horror stories! Check it out with iran hiroshima Vietnam Palestine etc Nigerian leader must stand up for Nigerians at home and abroad! BBCAfrica

MBuhari accepted their apology bcoz him MBuhari had killed millions of and still counting but never apologize to Nigerians president without a certificate

Is it enough to just apologise? What measures have they put in place to stop the attacks? What about the lives lost? The relationship can never bw mutual anymore. I know the help Nigeria rendered during their apartheid era. Really sad though.

Don't apologize quickly Mr president unless you make an agreement with them on what is the future of your citizens living their , in order to ensure sound living👌

Hope this will stop the attack on Nigerians

South Africa need to engage in domestic education of her populace. Ignorance is not excuse to crime. Nigeria on the hand need to take care of the poor and devastated economy which has been the reason for Nigerians exodus to other countries.

That is how good leaders supposes to behaved. Tnx for the visit.

I guess South Africa did not know Dia own history

See that one on the far right like a bully

Apology accepted, but they must compensate for things property damages and tell their citizens and businesses to start packing to leave. We won't fight them. They should leave in peace.

Repentance? Is that all? Are they sure this barbaric acts won’t repeat itself again?

Apology is a medium to restore relationship, my question is what Agreement are both Governments putting in place to avoid future xenophobia attack? And should in case future attack occurs what kind of action should be taking

Apology isn’t enough.

REPENTANCE!!!
