Built quietly and with a clear goal in sight, the world class diagnostic centre in Sokoto will serve not just Nigerians, but also nationals of neighbouring countries, making the ancient city a hub for medical tourism in a few years’ time.
Located along the airport road, the N3.2 billion centre is poised to halt the movement abroad by many Nigerians seeking medical attention in countries such as India, UK, USA, Saudi Arabia and Germany. This has been as a result of non-availability of advanced health care technology in our health facilities,” states Ali Inname, commissioner for health, Sokoto State in a press release issued ahead of the commissioning.
He drew attention to the fact that the facility is world-class and a milestone in the history of medical diagnosis in Nigeria. The Sultan gives a suggestion on how the hospital could help the poor and vulnerable who may not be able to afford the fees.
