I didn’t really take a break from the industry. I have just not released an album since SEYI or SHAY. I’ve been putting out singles like “Yolo Yolo” and “Gimme Love”. I’ve also been acting in films and online series like. In addition, I’ve been getting to know myself, love myself and improving myself.I’d say this new project coming out is definitely a defining moment for me. It’s a body of work that I’ve been wanting to create for years.
It means songwriting is easier. It also means all the songs that I have composed can be properly monetised, accounted for, leaving me with a nice amount of money that I can use for my career. Different factors affected my releasing a new album sooner. I didn’t have a label for a few years. I’ve been independent for a while. I also wanted to spend time finding my true self again. Being in Nigeria made me lose myself a bit because of the culture shock and differences from where I was raised due to the pressure that is put on musicians out here to always fit in or blend in with superficial identities.
