Buhari said that the mandatory use of direct primaries for all political parties in the country will place a financial burden on Nigeria’s slim resources. The Senate has now removed the clause that makes direct primaries mandatory from the electoral act.

Nigeria Senate on Wednesday removed the clause that makes direct primary mandatory for the election of candidates in political parties from the electoral amendment act. The Senate in late 2021 passed a version of the bill and transmitted it to President Muhammadu Buhari who declined assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

Buhari advised the National Assembly to look into the areas of concern and transmit the bill to him for assent.

Are we still going to wait his assent?

Islam and the Sunnah is forgotten. The name Muslim and Islam should be banned all over the world. What is the conclusion of Muhammad Zahra on the methods the Muslim should elect a leader?

Hope those who were condemning the president for withholding assent as if direct primaries is solution to party primaries, esp PDP will now go ahead and insert it into their nomination process. Hypocrites everywhere
