The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sawno-Olu, has urged advertisers and marketers to embrace diversification and grow the country’s economy through agriculture.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tunji Bello, said this during the 10th Advertisers Association of Nigeria Awards for Marketing Excellence West Africa, held in Lagos. Sanwo-Olu was quoted in a statement on Monday to have said, “Agriculture and natural resources served as economic mainstay before the discovery of crude oil in commercial quantities which changed the narrative of the national economic vision and focus.
“It is also the duty of the advertisers and marketers to promote the image of Nigeria with the potential available in the diversity in order to encourage foreign and direct investments which will impact positively on the growth of the economy.” Sanwo-Olu added that the gains of the entertainment sector would also be used to change Nigeria’s perception on the global stage.
