Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, says residents will pay between N200 and N300 for train tickets in the state.Speaking on his administration’s plan for transportation in 2022, the governor said the vision of his government is to reduce traffic and the time commuters spend on the road.
“And be able to do a better journey planning where you can predict pretty much this journey will take you 25 minutes, 30 minutes, not the one you get lost on the road that we have now and you are there for 2, 3 hours. “Now, it is quicker instead of you staying one hour on the road, it’s going to take you 20 minutes which comes with a lot of benefits. Affordability is critical, it’s not going to be in the thousands. So, you will still be in your regular N200, N300 per journey and that is what we are looking at.
The governor also said the state will start testing the blue rail lines this year, adding that terminal stations will also be ready by the fourth quarter of the year.“And by the grace of God, we will also be completing the blue line. What Lagosians are expecting from us will be actively working with trains — two rail lines by the first quarter of this year,” he said.
jidesanwoolu Can't wait to see blue line (okokomaiko to marina), green line(marina to Lekki airport), purple line(redemption camp to Ojo), yellow line( Otta to National Theater) and orange line( Ikeja to Agbowa) coming into place
And if you get to the terminal now they can tell you is 500 due to agberos and ticket money ...
Should be at least $2 but I'm guessing they have done their cash flow analysis. More grace 👍
Really? jidesanwoolu at less than a dollar per ride, how many years will it take followlasg to recover the money spent building the rail infrastructures and maintaining them? Nigerian politicians no dey think at all.
jidesanwoolu This is b4 election Then after elections, how much it go cost
At this cost, I foresee a big problem coming. The trains will be overloaded... it will become the new 'molue' just like BRT has become.
jidesanwoolu Good to hear
Until then, we dey wait.
