A former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress , Comrade Timi Frank, has attributed the rising spate of insecurity in the country to the retention, for far too long, of the immediate past Service Chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“While the former Service Chiefs – Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar – prevaricated and politicised their offices, insurgency, banditry and kidnapping spread like wild fire from the North East to the North West, North Central, South West, South South and South East zones of the country.
He called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission to investigate and prosecute the ex-Service Chiefs. He expressed hope that the new Service Chiefs which include Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff, would be able to turn the tide on insecurity in the country in no distant time.
