Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed, has assured that the Federal Government’s economic stimulus package will reduce the expected recession. On Monday, Ahmed had a session in Abuja with the Senate Committee on Finance. The session deliberated the revised 2020-2022 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper .She stated that the global economy was in crisis but that the government will minimise how far Nigeria goes into recession.

“National Bureau of Statistics has made an assessment that we will go into recession to the level of four per cent. The executive is preparing a stimulus package so that if it happens, maybe we go in at 0.5 percent or 1 percent but not going much lower”, Ahmed said. Chairman of the Committee, Solomon Adeola, hinted that some of the new proposals may not be adopted as requested.

He said the Senate was still waiting “for that Economic Stimulus grand document by the committee headed by the Vice-President, because what it intends to do is to keep the economy going in the aftermath of COVID-19”. Adeola also reminded of related documents the committee requested “ranging from the special accounts to the deficit document as explained by the DG Budget Office”.

What thing I know for sure and believe would facilitate the better result expected, is to see the synergy between the National Assembly members and the economic sustainability committee. As we all know, the Vice President is a result oriented person. He did that with ERGP before

I have every confidence in the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to always deliver; anything he handles turned for better.

Senate 'demands'! The level of arrogance.

Daily Post!! Nigeria govt nor Senate are not demanding, but want to get details from the committee's plan.

Senate should just shut up. The Economic Sustainability Committee is an executive plan. The Senate is planning to take some shone from the hard work of VP Osinbajo and that is arrant nonsense.

Osinbajo led Economic Sustainability Committee came up with a plan and the senate demanding to have a copy of it is not out of place. Note: It is not a probe by the senate, they just want to get more details on the ESC's plan.

Recession Clampdown: Nigerian government states plans as Senate awaits Osinbajo’s committee document.

This is not a probe for those that will only read headline, this is what he design as the chairman of Economic Sustainability Committee, the plans for Nigeria and Nigerians during this pandemic

Osinbajo is a blessing to this country. Nigeria will surely prevail

Baba always come clean. Man no get time for stains

Is Osinbajo still the vice president? Am asking for a frd pls
