A fabric company that works with natural fibres, ReshaWeaves, revealed their online ad earlier this month that included the Mona Lisa in various Indian weaves. In line with the regional saree that the Italian noblewoman is wearing, the well-edited and imaginative marketing gave Mona Lisa local titles.

The first article, “Mona in Six Yards Across India,” featured a picture of the Mona Lisa wearing what appeared to be an expensive Murshidabad silk saree, coupled with jewellery and a large red bindi, which is customary for Hindu Bengali weddings. Mona Lisa is referred to as “Shona Lisa” in this article.in many guises including Lisa Devi from Bihar, Lisa Tai from Maharashtra, Lisa Mol from Kerala, Lisa Maharani from Rajasthan, and Lisa Mami from Tamil Nadu, among many more.
