Policemen injured as robbers’ bullion van raid fails in Ondo - Punch Newspapers

30 July 2021There was a pandemonium in the Yaba Area of Ondo town, Ondo State, as armed robbers attacked a bullion van belonging to a commercial bank few metres away from the Yaba Police Division.It was gathered that the bandits stormed the bank around 3pm on Thursday, shooting indiscriminately.
The residents of the area were said to have fled the area while some major roads in the community were deserted.It was however gathered that the robbers were reportedly not successful in the operation. A source explained that the bullion van belonged to the Guarantee Trust Bank in Ondo.
One of the residents, who simply identified as Ramon said the robbers attacked the bullion van while it was leaving for Akure, the state capital.He said, “It was an unsuccessful attack on the bank’s bullion van going to Akure. The policemen that escorted of the van, however, sustained injury and have been taken to hospital.” headtopics.com

The Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the men of the corps were already on the trail of the hoodlums.“There was no death recorded but a stray bullet hit a person. We have deployed our men in the area and they are on the trail of the hoodlums,” Adeleye stated.
