Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have rescued 16 persons abducted by bandits on the Birnin-Gwari Road, Udawa, in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

The state police spokesman, ASP Mohammad Jalige, who stated this on Monday, also disclosed that the command recovered a vehicle snatched at gunpoint from its owner in the ancient city of Zaria. Jalige said most of the kidnap victims were residents of Udawa and Gadagi Baggi villages, in the Chikun LGA, while others were travellers from Lagos, Kano, Zamfara and Niger states.

He said, “On January 16, 2022, the Kaduna State Police Command, through the Divisional Police Officer, Buruku, received information that some persons were seen around the Masallaci area along Birnin Gwari Road, who were suspected to be victims of kidnapping. “On the strength of the report, the DPO immediately mobilised personnel on a rescue mission to the area.
