A public health physician, Dr. Oladoyin Odubanjo, has urged Nigerians to voluntarily donate blood to save the lives of injured victims of Lekki toll gate shootings.
There were heavy gunshots at the Lekki toll gate area of Lagos State on Tuesday where security agents reportedly opened fire on #EndSARS protesters who were demanding an end to police brutality. “With the types of trauma injuries that we will be dealing with, there will be a lot of blood loss. So, there will be need for donation of blood and blood transfusion services are not everywhere.
There were reports on the social media on Wednesday that some private hospitals at Lekki that were offering services to wounded victims were desperately in need of volunteers for blood donation. Others are children with severe anaemia often resulting from malaria or malnutrition; people with severe trauma following man-made and natural disasters.
