[TOP STORY] Petrol subsidy to bite harder as oil price rises to $90 per barrel | TheCable

Oil prices rose on Wednesday to $90 a barrel for the first time since October 2014.as countries relaxed lockdowns and dropped travel restrictions.

With current realities, Nigeria is expected to earn an extra $28 on every barrel of crude sold — but the country’s subsidy shortfall payments will erode the gains., amounting to N1.43 trillion in annual expense, shrinking revenue accrued to the federation account. This development comes amid rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, which raised concerns about potential supply disruptions in the global oil market.United States President Joe Biden had said that he would consider personal sanctions on President Vladimir Putin if Russia invades Ukraine.
