THE Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the re-appointment of Cyprian Akaolisa as the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state by Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee had recently slammed a five-year ban on Akaolisa for alleged professional misconduct. But the PDP in a statement on Tuesday, argued that Akaolisa was unqualified to act as the chief law officer of the state. The statement, which was issued by the party’s spokesperson in the state, Ogubundu Nwadike read, “The Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State rejects the announced recall and re-appointment of Mr Cyprian Akaolisa as Imo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

“This party notes that the said Mr Akaolisa is the same person who was recently derobed and barred from practising as a lawyer for five years by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for violating set codes of ethics and conduct of the Legal Practitioners body.
