The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied that the council chairmen elected under the party in Anambra State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Nnamdi Nwangwu, who is also Director, Publicity Directorate, Valentine Ozigbo Campaign Council, made the clarification in a statement yesterday.

He said all the local council chairmen of the party in Anambra State were intact and had not defected to APC or any other party. The PDP image-maker said that Sam Anyakorah, who allegedly led others to APC, was never a local council chairman of the party, not to talk of being the chairman of all the chairmen.

Nwangwu noted that the PDP would focus on issue-based campaign ahead of the November 6 governorship election and could not be distracted by the antics of a political party that is still bleeding over non-conduct of party primary. He thanked the good people of Anambra State for their continued support for Ozigbo, the PDP’s candidate for the governorship polls, noting that with Ozigbo’s “Ka Anambra Chawapu,” the people of the state will smile again.
