In a telephone conversation with The Guardian yesterday, Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr. Taofik Gani said flood in Lagos was due to the sand filling of various waterfronts to build estates, which senior government officials in the state appropriate among themselves. Houses, shops, churches and other properties were waterlogged during the heavy rainfall, destroying buildings and household properties, running into millions of naira.
According to a resident, Mr. Godwin Omoh, the flood also affected Sekinatu Bolanle and Aregbesola Streets, down to Omoh Street, extending to House of Prayer Street and beyond.
