The National Economic Council has directed state governments to pay compensation to victims of police brutality across the country.

NEC, chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, made the resolutions at the end of a meeting on Friday, according to a statement by the Vice-President’s spokesman, Laolu Akande. It said NEC received an update on the reports from 28 state judicial panels of inquiry into allegations of human rights violations against members of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
